Vote for Leon Leong on November 3.
September 13, 2009 - I walked the precinct covering the Charleston Meadow
neighborhood, as well as attended the Midtown Residents Association Ice Cream social.
Charleston Meadow has similar issues as Greemeadow - I'm glad I walked these
neighborhoods, as there is no substitute with going out and actually hearing first hand what
concerns residents have.   The Midtown Residents Association Ice Cream social is a fun
event, and I ran into one of my Mom's friends, Gloria Hom, who knew me since I was a kid
going to El Carmelo - it's great to re-connect with people from the neighborhood.

September 7, 2009 - I walked the 2nd precinct that covers Greenmeadow the labor day
weekend.   One voter liked my stand on the issues so much, he wrote me a campaign
contribution right on the spot!

August 29, 2009 - I walked one of the two precincts that covers Greenmeadow during our
heat wave.  At one home, no one came to the door, so I dropped off my literature;  20
minutes later, the person had come home, read my campaign positions, and came outside to
tell me how much he agreed with them!  It made the walk in the long hot 100 degree
weather well worth the effort!

August 23, 2009 - I walked the precinct covering Charleston Gardens, a very lovely
neighborhood, and it's great to talk to some long time residents who moved to Palo Alto
during the same time period that I did (the 1960's).

August 22, 2009 - I campaigned across from the Downtown Farmer's Market; it was great
to meet residents from different neighborhoods of Palo Alto, as well as see familar
acquaintances again.

Aug 13, 2009 - The order the names will come out on the ballot came out today.   The
California Secretary of State randomly ordered the alphabet, and based on that order, my
name will appear 10 out of 14 - a bit of bad luck.   From what I've been told, the person
appearing 1st on the ballot will get from 10%-20% additional votes than they otherwise
would have.  Makes the job bigger to get known!

Aug 7, 2009 - Received official notice from the City Clerk that I have qualified for the ballot.
The clerk needed to verify all that all the people who signed my nominating papers were
registered voters in Palo Alto.

Aug 3, 2009 - Met with the City Clerk to file my papers.   Everything appears in order!

Aug 1, 2009 - Attended a briefing from  the "Conservation League of Voters", Sierra Club
and Greenbelt Alliance.   These groups invited candidates who are running in elections to
give an overview of the issues that they consider important to them.

Jul 30, 2009 - Received my FPPC (Fair Political Practices Committee) number for my
campaign committee.   In order to collect donations and spend money, I needed to set up a
campaign committee, file information with the California Secretary of State, and get a FPPC
number.

Jul 22, 2009 - Met with the City Clerk to check out my nomination papers, and get a
briefing on the process - campaign filing requirements, campaign statements, signatures
needed, etc.
